GreenWorks 25312 G-MAX Cordless Lawn Mower

5 / 5 stars

There’s another new lawn mower on board for the 2013 mowing season.  It’s the GreenWorks 25312 G-MAX cordless mower.

A step up from the previous 25292 model, the new 25312 has an enhanced battery — the g-max instead of the standard 40 v lithium-ion battery.  The G-MAX is still lithium-ion, but charges much quicker.  Generally in about half the time it takes for the regular 40 v lithium-ion.  And in this case, quicker is better.

The GreenWorks 25312 comes supplied with two batteries.  A 4AH battery and 2AH battery.  For those of you to whom that means nothing, here’s a little explanation.  Ah stands for amp hour.  And that doesn’t mean that you get four hours of use from the 4AH or two hours of use from 2AH battery.  You have to factor in how much power the battery has to use for certain job.  For instance, if your grass is very thick and wet or very hilly and bumpy, chances are it’s going to suck more power from the battery, meaning the battery will last a shorter time.  It would’ve been nice if the GreenWorks had added two of the more powerful batteries, but c’est la vie.  Anyway, if your lawns less than a third of an acre.  You should be able to do your mowing on a fully charged battery.  Having said that, you can pick up an extra 4AH battery if you want to.

Greenworks Cordless Mower 25312 Pros & Cons

Pros: Powerful  enough for heavy jobs — Quick charging batteries – Lightweight — Extremely quiet — Long-lasting batteries — Easy startup

Cons:  Extra battery is less powerful

The 19 inch cutting deck is not the largest on the market, but neither is it the smallest.  And chances are if you’re looking to buy a cordless mower, you don’t have a huge lawn.

The 25312 comes with some fairly standard features, one being the ability to choose between rear bagging, mulching, or side discharge.  You also my selection on it comes to cutting height.  You can choose heights between 1 ¼ to 3 1/8 inches.

At only 53 pounds, the lawn mower is fairly lightweight, easy to handle.  And it’s quiet!

Assembly is super easy.  Simply pull up the handle, snap into place, then tighten the locks and knobs.  Decide whether you’re installing the grass catcher, the mulcher, or the side discharge chute.  Then install your battery pack and you’re good to go.  Of course the batteries don’t come fully charged, so you will have to plug one into a power outlet, then put it in the charger before you can install it.  Give yourself about an hour for that.

So if you’re tired of equating mowing the lawn with getting toxic fumes in your face, or being ever so careful not to run over a cord, I strongly suggest the GreenWorks 25312 cordless mower.
