You may not watch Oprah or Dr. Oz but let me tell you, their recommendations and opinions hold a vast amount of weight. And yeah, the Slow Juicer got huge thumbs up from both of them which really overshadows the opinion of little old me, but I will forge on!

The Hurom HU-100 is a masticating juicer, meaning it ranks up there with the best juicers on the market today. In case you haven’t already done a bunch of research on juicers, I’ll tell you that masticating are the best, then centrifugal. I won’t go into all the reasons here, but if you care to you can check out the info on the main page of our JUICERS section. This is a single auger juicer which will handle wheatgrass – and anything else – with ease. One thing to note about your green leafy veggies is you may want to make sure you break them down into smaller pieces.

Hurom HU-100 Slow Juicer Pros and Cons

Pros: Wheatgrass juicer – Quiet – Faster than similar models – Higher yield & quality of juice – Available in different colors

Cons: Complaints about the strainer breaking – Warranty and customer service complaints

What sets this juicer apart from other masticating juicers is its dual action. It first masticates – chews or crushes – your fruit, vegetables, wheatgrass and so on, then it takes the extra step of squeezing or pressing the pulp. The result? Significantly more juice, especially when compared to a centrifugal juicer.

There are a few benefits to that fact. More juice means, well more for you to drink, but less waste and you’ll spend less on produce since you can stretch it further. That’s a definite pay back.

A huge plus to this juicer is its self feeding capability. No need to use a pusher, even for longer vegetables like carrots. Just drop it in the chute and the Hurom HU-100 will do the rest, meaning your hands are free to move on to the next item.

What else? The HU-100 is fairly quiet. Much quieter than a lot of juicers on the market, some of which sound like jet engines. Also, keep in mind that since this is a masticating juicer it runs slower than its centrifugal cousins, which in terms of juice quality is a good thing. Having said that, this slow juicer is actually faster than other masticating models are.

The juicer is easy to assemble and clean, but make sure cleanup is done right away, just like you would with any other juicer.

Interesting side point. If you see similarities between the this juicer and the Omega VRT that’s because Hurom juicers are made in the same factory as Omega juicers and a lot of the parts are the same.

Features and Dimensions

So are Oprah and Dr. Oz right? Is the Hurom HU-100 Slow Juicer worth buying? I think so, but then I really like the Omega VRT Juicers as well.  I’m reading this juicer as of 4/5, due to the multiple complaints about the strainer, the warranty, and customer service that seems to be lacking.
